Speak up for pigs

The government has finally opened its consultation on banning CO2 stunning of pigs. Now we need to turn that opportunity into action.

High-concentration CO2 causes pigs pain, fear and severe breathing difficulties before they lose consciousness. The government’s own animal welfare advisers have called for this practice to end.

But the pork industry is already pushing back on how quickly change should happen. Ministers need to hear from people who want an end to this suffering without unnecessary delay.

WePlanet is preparing an organisational response to the consultation, and we want your views to be part of it. Can you answer three quick questions to help shape our submission?

If a ban is introduced, how long should the industry have to move to alternative methods?
