Tell Morrisons to end CO2 stunning in its slaughterhouses

Horrific slaughterhouse footage just exposed the intense suffering behind the pork industry. Pigs screaming and gasping for air as they're exposed to high concentrations of CO2 gas. Biting at cages and clambering over each other trying to escape.

The worst part is this method of stunning pigs is the norm – across Europe and here in the UK. Around 90% of pigs slaughtered in England and Wales are gassed this way before slaughter. And most of that pork ends up on supermarket shelves.

Supermarkets often say their hands are tied when it comes to stunning methods. But Morrisons doesn't just buy pork from suppliers – it actually owns the slaughterhouses where CO2 stunning happens.

Right now, Morrisons is restructuring its pig slaughter operations – it says it wants to create a "centre of excellence" for pork processing. That gives us a real opportunity to demand that ending CO2 stunning is part of those plans.

But we need to show Morrisons that its customers are watching, and expect action. Will you sign our petition to Morrisons CEO Rami Baitiéh, demanding an end to cruel pig gassing?
